- <p> Braniff International Airlines, reincarnated almost as often
- as Shirley MacLaine, is dead again, becoming the fourth major
- U.S. airline to end operations in the past 18 months. The harried
- carrier, founded in 1928 and once one of the largest U.S.
- airlines, abruptly ceased service just before the holiday
- weekend, stranding thousands of passengers. It's the third time
- in 10 years that the airline, which claims it is a victim of the
- airfare price war, has folded its wings.
